Elden Ring: Margit the Fell Omen Strategy

Let the delayed staff decide your dodge
Margit is an early lesson in attacks that wait longer than your instinct expects. Watch his weapon hand rather than rolling when he begins a wind-up. Many staff swings are safest when you dodge toward or beside the final motion, then take one or two attacks while he resets. Rolling away early puts you at the edge of a follow-up and spends the stamina you need to escape it.
Enter with your main weapon reinforced as far as your current materials allow, enough healing to survive a few mistakes, and a comfortable equipment load. A Spirit Ash can create breathing room if the arena allows it; use the space to reach a safe side or heal, rather than treating the summon as a reason to attack without watching. Sorcery, incantations, arrows, and throwing tools work best after a committed combo or when Margit is occupied.
Change jobs when the spectral weapons arrive
At the later portion of the fight, Margit adds glowing blades and a hammer. His pressure rises, but the rule stays the same: wait for the finishing strike, get one safe response, and leave with stamina. Do not heal at long range by default; the thrown blade can reach you. Heal after a full sequence, a jump, or a hammer recovery when his next action is visible.
| What happens | Better response |
|---|---|
| Long staff wind-up | Hold the dodge until the swing commits, then punish the recovery. |
| You block a short chain | Stop attacking before your stamina is empty; back away and reset. |
| Spectral dagger appears | Expect the follow-up before using a flask. |
| Margit turns to a summon | Attack from the side, then disengage before his next chain. |
Margit’s Shackle is a situational tool found through Patches’ shop route and can briefly restrain him during the appropriate part of the encounter. It is an option, not a requirement; learn the normal timing first so an unsuccessful use does not break the attempt. If the fight still feels like a damage race, leave Stormveil, take A Useful First Limgrave Route, and return with one clear upgrade rather than grinding deaths.
