Elden Ring Talismans

On this page

Talismans are passive effects you wear. You start with one slot and can reach four by finding Talisman Pouches, which are rewards from a small number of bosses. Because the slots are scarce, the question is never which talisman is best in general, but which four solve the fight in front of you.

The effects worth carrying

Most useful talismans fall into a few groups: health, focus and stamina boosts; equip load increases that keep you in a faster roll; damage increases for a specific weapon type or attack style; and resistances to whatever status effect is currently ruining your attempt.

The most valuable ones are usually unglamorous. A little more maximum health or a lighter load that pushes you under a roll breakpoint will change a fight more than a small damage boost.

Swapping for a specific fight

Treat the equipment screen as part of your preparation rather than something you set once. For a boss that applies scarlet rot, resistance is worth two slots. For a fight where you keep dying at the start, a defensive talisman buys the seconds you need to learn the opening.

Two habits help:

  • Change talismans at a Site of Grace before travelling, not in the arena.
  • Keep one slot flexible rather than filling all four with damage.

Reading a talisman description

Descriptions are precise. Some effects apply only to specific damage types, some only when your health is low, and some scale with an attribute. A talisman that boosts attack power when you are near death is a liability on a first attempt and a strong tool once you know a fight.

If two talismans seem to do the same thing, read the numbers: percentage boosts to maximum health stack differently from flat increases, and the difference is often one hit of survival.
