DREDGE Regions and Fishing Types Guide: Where to Take Your Next Catch
On this page
Read the water before choosing a rod
DREDGE’s base map has The Marrows and four main outer regions: Gale Cliffs, Stellar Basin, Twisted Strand, and Devil’s Spine. Read a spot’s habitat and time requirement, then bring equipment that can work there.
When a fishing spot says your gear is unsuitable, note the missing habitat and return to a dock. Research and buy a rod or line that covers it. For a fish caught by trawl net or crab pot, use the encyclopedia’s listed method and fit or place that equipment for its own trip.
Use each region as a route landmark
| Region | What to use it for |
|---|---|
| The Marrows | Learn short dock-to-dock loops, fish the accessible waters, and collect early dredging materials. |
| Gale Cliffs | Follow cliff channels carefully and make the local Pursuit your navigation anchor. |
| Stellar Basin | Bring a plan for deeper fishing requirements and give yourself daylight for the centre. |
| Twisted Strand | Use clear map markers; its narrow channels are easier when you know the next turn and dock. |
| Devil’s Spine | Prepare for volcanic fishing needs and make the final long approach with cargo room available. |
The Pale Reach and The Iron Rig are optional expansions with their own equipment and story content. Do not assume that an expansion fish, mechanic, or hull step is needed for the base relic route.
Let the encyclopedia choose the trip
Choose one target fish, read its habitat and day-or-night condition in the encyclopedia, and build the trip around that information. Rod fishing, trawling, and crab pots serve different targets, so pick the method the entry permits. A fish can be in the right region and still be unavailable because it is the wrong time or your equipment lacks the required habitat tag.
Use the Spyglass and map markers to identify a promising spot before sailing into unknown water. Once the route gets longer, Ship upgrades help you fit the needed gear, while Night fishing and Panic covers returning with the catch after dark. Use the main Pursuits route when you want a story-led destination.
For safe return points, watch V4mp’s Dredge Docks — All Locations 19/19.
Turn the encyclopedia into a route card
Before leaving a dock, read three fields on the target entry: habitat, method, and time. Habitat tells you whether a fitted rod can fish there. Method tells you whether the target comes from a rod, trawl net, or crab pot. Time tells you whether to leave now or sleep first. Write the result into the route: target, gear, nearest dock, and return direction.
That approach changes between regions. Gale Cliffs can be a short channel run from Ingfell; Stellar Basin needs a plan for the central depths; Twisted Strand needs a marked route through roots; Devil’s Spine needs room for its hazards and its long return. Regional objectives are collected in Gale Cliffs Pursuits, Stellar Basin Pursuits, Twisted Strand Pursuits, and Devil’s Spine Pursuits.
