DREDGE Twisted Strand Pursuits Guide: The Bitter End and the Necklace

This page includes story or boss spoilers.

On this page

Meet the Airman before wandering the channels

At the Camp, the Airman begins The Bitter End. His pursuit has two useful outcomes: it clears the local Mind Suckers through his mortar plan and opens access to Mixed Bait. It also runs beside the main Necklace objective, so choose which cargo you are carrying on every trip.

The mortar needs two dredged pieces. The Barrel is at G13 and the Frame at E14. These are big pursuit items, so leave with a mostly empty hold. Return both pieces to the Camp before you start collecting the fish and bait for the traps. If you fill the boat with ordinary catches first, you may need a pointless return just to make the parts fit.

Treat each trap as its own job

After the mortar is assembled, the Airman gives different bait for the three Mind Sucker traps. Place the bait where the journal directs, wait for his shot, then inspect the result and bring proof back to the Camp. Do not take several bait stages as though they can be completed at once; the pursuit advances one trap, one report, and one new bait item at a time.

The named fish he requests are part of making the bait. Keep the encyclopedia open and bring the right fishing method, rather than repeatedly casting at a spot with a rod that lacks the habitat tag. Mixed Bait is the reward for completing the pursuit; it is a tool for making a fishing spot, not a substitute for the right equipment.

Plan around the root maze

Twisted Strand punishes vague steering. Mark the Camp, the next dredge coordinate, and the next trap before leaving a dock. If a log or root blocks the direct line, stop at the last safe landmark, turn around, and take the known channel. An explosive can open some debris, but only use one after you can see what new route it creates.

The Necklace is the Collector’s relic for this region. Bring it home after you recover it instead of carrying it during the Airman’s last stages. Returning it moves the main route forward, while The Bitter End can remain a separate local project if your fishing gear is not ready.

After the final trap

Twisted Strand Fish Reference covers the Mangrove rod, night fish, pot catches, and Goliath Tigerfish route that fit around the Airman’s pursuit. Report back to the Airman after the third proof. If your goal is a later resource route, save some cargo room for dog tags and other optional finds, but do not invent a dog-tag farming loop from the pursuit. Hooded Figures and Recording Rarities are better planned as specific fish checklists.

Next, the base story moves to Devil’s Spine Pursuits, where the route is more about shrine access and safe navigation than clearing every obstacle.
