DREDGE A Place to Rest Guide: Steel Point Builder Route

On this page

Speak to the Builder after dredging unlocks

The Builder appears at Greater Marrow after the Collector has installed the boat’s dredging equipment. Speak to her to start A Place to Rest. Her request has three clean stages: deliver materials to Steel Point, report back, then ferry her there. Doing those stages in order avoids carrying a passenger while you are still searching wrecks.

First collect two Lumber and two Metal Scraps. Dredging spots and shipwrecks can supply them; the nearby Little Marrow wreck at L8 is a sensible early search point. Take the four materials to the construction site at Steel Point, K10, and place them there. These are building-delivery items, so selling them or using them for a boat upgrade first means you will need replacements.

Return, then make a six-slot passenger space

After the material drop, return to the Builder at Greater Marrow. She will agree to move. Clear a 2 by 3 rectangle in cargo before you speak to her again, because she boards as a passenger. The trip ends at the same Steel Point site. Take a direct daytime route and do not hit hazards or discard her to make space; either action can end the pursuit as a loss.

Dropping the Builder at Steel Point gives two Research Parts. Dock there again after she has settled and speak to her to receive The Engineer’s Companion. The book reduces durability loss for equipment that uses durability by 10% after it is fully read. Select it from the Cabin Bookshelf and let it progress through normal sailing, fishing, and dredging. Sleeping pauses book reading, so an active travel loop advances it better than repeatedly resting at a dock.

Make the reward match the next job

The Research Parts are valuable because this pursuit arrives early. Spend them toward a rod, net, or engine that answers the next obstacle, not simply the cheapest icon. Research Parts has the purchase logic, while Books and Passive Bonuses shows when to switch away from the Engineer’s Companion after it completes.

Steel Point becomes a useful named stop rather than an empty landmark, so this pursuit also makes future Marrows routes easier to remember. Combine it with Castaway only if the cargo grid can hold one passenger at a time.
