Mortal Shell II Beacons
On this page
Beacons are more than checkpoints
There are 49 Beacons. Three are already cleansed when found: Marrow Keep, Widow’s Overlook, and Outskirts of Mammon. The other 46 are tied to the cleanse count tracked by the relevant achievement.
Cleansing a Beacon sends you through a short dungeon with enemies and sometimes a miniboss, then awards Ova at the end. The six Beacons after main bosses have the largest Ova reward in that guide. Resting revives the equipped Shell, restores Health and Resolve, respawns ordinary enemies, and updates your respawn point. Cleansing also clears some loot obstructions.
Use each Beacon in two ways
| Need | What to do |
|---|---|
| Reach a known route | Travel to its named Beacon |
| Finish a local goal | Cleanse it, then mark the area done |
| Find a missed Shell | Start from the Shell’s listed Beacon |
| Return after exploration | Use Mether’s Breath |
The latest Steam update gives smaller Beacons their own Mether’s Breath icons, which should make the menu easier to read. How to fast travel covers using that menu; this page is the reminder to treat each name as a durable map landmark.
Cleanse when it changes the next trip
Do not treat every Beacon as an obligation before you move on. Cleanse one when it opens a return route, removes an obstruction you need to pass, gives a reliable reset before a difficult branch, or completes the local dungeon you have already committed to. If you only want to reach a named pickup, travelling to the closest cleansed Beacon may be enough.
Before entering a cleanse dungeon, decide whether you are carrying enough health, Resolve, and a weapon you understand to finish its local pressure. A half-cleared route with no plan wastes more time than resting first. Once it is done, use the Beacon name in your own map notes: it is the anchor for a Shell run, merchant return, boss retry, or cleanup sweep. This page intentionally avoids presenting the achievement count as a full collectible checklist; the location guide remains the safer place to chase a specific target.
