Recommended route
Start with Disciple’s Pass to learn the basic systems, then reach Marrow Keep for Shell bonding, Tarforge upgrades, maps and merchants. From there, explore Fainweald for the first map fragment and Tiel. After clearing Glutted Mire, return to Marrow Keep and use the Gloom Siphon to continue.
| Step | Destination | Why it comes next |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Disciple’s Pass | Learn the core fight and collect early Laterite and Ventrium |
| 2 | Marrow Keep | Meet the hub NPCs and choose an upgrade focus |
| 3 | Widow’s Overlook and Fainweald | Find the first map fragment and Tiel |
| 4 | Glutted Mire | First recommended gate; defeat Magdalena and return to the hub |
| 5 | Sanguine Caverns | Route north from Widow’s Overlook; Proxima is on the way |
| 6 | Prisoner’s Domain | Fainweald’s third recommended gate; Eredrim is near Citadel of Penance |
| 7 | Ruins of Mammon | Use Outskirts of Mammon, collect its map fragment, then clear Withered Shoals, Faded Citadel, and Conquered Temple |
| 8 | Endgame | After the final gate, return to Marrow Keep, use the Gloom Siphon and speak with Milos |
Each regional gate’s final boss provides Ova. Pause for Shell, Beacon or upgrade cleanup whenever a new route gives you a useful branch; take time to explore before moving on.
Use the route as a return loop
After each gate, return to Marrow Keep before picking the next one. Spend the new Ova and Gloom only on the tool that solved the last region or the one you plan to test next. Then use a cleansed Beacon to make one purposeful detour: a Shell landmark, a weapon route, a Tarforge component, or a merchant. This prevents the open world from becoming a string of half-finished runs.
If a route seems closed, check whether its nearby Beacon still needs cleansing, whether a boss Ova has been brought back, and whether a map fragment points to the branch you have not followed. Do not assume every locked-looking direction needs a hidden key. The campaign opens in layers, and a return to the hub is often the action that makes the next layer clear. See Walkthrough for the region structure and Beacons for the reset points that make each detour manageable.
