Mr. Robot

Season 3

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Elliot's struggle with Mr. Robot becomes a battle over the next attack on E Corp. Angela is now helping the Dark Army, convinced Whiterose can reverse losses that include her mother's death and Elliot's father's death. Elliot rejects those promises and tries to prevent Stage Two. He has redirected the company's paper records away from the building marked for destruction, but Mr. Robot repeatedly takes control and interrupts his attempts to stop the operation. Tyrell remains involved, while the Dark Army uses its FBI mole, Santiago, to obstruct Dom's investigation.

Elliot finally persuades Mr. Robot that the records are elsewhere and stops the intended building from exploding. His relief is brief: the Dark Army bombs 71 other E Corp facilities, killing thousands. Trenton and Mobley are murdered and blamed for the attacks. The supposed revolution has become a catastrophe controlled by people outside fsociety. As the survivors confront what they helped unleash, Angela's faith in Whiterose clashes with the devastation around her. Phillip Price eventually reveals that he is Angela's biological father and tells her to accept that Whiterose has manipulated her.

The final confrontation draws Elliot, Darlene and Dom into Dark Army captivity. Irving kills Santiago and threatens Dom's family unless she replaces him as their informant. Elliot offers the organisation a faster way to move Whiterose's project to the Congo, giving her a reason to keep him alive. Leon kills the other operatives, and Grant takes his own life. Afterward, Elliot learns that Mr. Robot preserved the encryption keys needed to reverse Five/Nine. They agree to work together against the powerful people behind the disaster, and Elliot sends E Corp the means to recover its data. A closing appearance by Fernando Vera brings an older threat back into Darlene's path.
