Elliot confronts Angela about her work with Tyrell, but she refuses to give him the answers he needs. He identifies the Red Wheelbarrow as Tyrell's hiding place and directs Darlene towards it. The FBI begins closing in while Elliot heads for E Corp's recovery facility. His warning has not kept the building empty: firefighters find no conventional bomb and allow people back inside. Elliot must reach the equipment that will turn the building's backup power system into the weapon.
Mr. Robot repeatedly takes control and drags their shared body away from Elliot's attempts to stop the attack. Elliot loses time, fights to regain control and injures himself during the struggle. Finally, he leaves Mr. Robot a message explaining that the paper records are elsewhere. Destroying this building would kill people without achieving their stated goal. Mr. Robot stops obstructing him, and together they prevent the local explosion that each has treated as the centre of Stage 2.
Irving meanwhile gives Tyrell instructions before Dom searches his basement hideout. Tyrell emerges in public warning of an attack and is arrested. Darlene confronts Angela, who continues insisting that nobody will be hurt. Elliot leaves the saved facility expecting the danger to have passed, then joins a crowd watching the news. Seventy-one other E Corp buildings have exploded across the country. His success at one site has not stopped the mass killing planned beyond his knowledge.
