Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
A new gang war breaks out in Hell’s Kitchen when Frank Castle wipes out criminals across the neighbourhood. Matt tries to stop the killings and learns that Frank’s family was caught in a botched police sting. Nelson & Murdock defend him in court, but Frank rejects their strategy and his trial falls apart. Karen investigates what happened to the Castle family and finds that Frank’s former commander, Ray Schoonover, is the Blacksmith behind the deadly deal. Frank kills Schoonover and continues his fight on his own terms.
Matt’s old love Elektra returns with a job tied to Roxxon and the Yakuza. Their reunion pulls Matt away from Frank’s trial and strains his partnership with Foggy, especially after Elektra kills a teenage attacker in front of him. Stick explains that Elektra has been part of his war against the Hand, a secret order whose agents are digging under New York. Nobu, whom Matt thought he had killed, returns to lead the Hand. He calls Elektra the Black Sky, a weapon his group wants to claim, while Matt urges her to choose her own path.
In prison, Wilson Fisk builds power and uses Frank to remove his rival before arranging his escape. The Hand later kidnaps people Matt has helped, including Karen, to draw Daredevil out. Matt and Elektra free the hostages, then face Nobu and a force of ninjas. Frank covers them from a nearby roof. Elektra takes a blade meant for Matt and appears to die; Matt throws Nobu from the roof, and Stick finishes the fight. Frank burns his old home and accepts the Punisher name. At the end, Matt tells Karen that he is Daredevil, while the Hand places Elektra’s body in a vessel.
