Elektra asks Matt to help with business involving Roxxon, but he wants his former lover out of his apartment and life. A payment into the law firm's struggling account complicates his refusal. He follows her activities anyway, listening as she enters a business meeting and secretly interferes with the company's computer system. Her invitation has placed him near a conflict she understands better than she is prepared to admit, while his friends remain occupied with the Castle case.
Flashbacks show Matt meeting Elektra at a college party and entering a reckless relationship built around stolen cars, fighting and shared secrets. She recognises his unusual abilities and encourages the violence he hides from others. Their romance reaches its breaking point when she brings him to Roscoe Sweeney, the man responsible for his father's death. Matt beats Sweeney but refuses Elektra's demand that he kill him, choosing to call the police instead.
Karen searches the newspaper's archive and finds a report of the carousel shooting connected to Frank's family. She later meets Matt for dinner, and an uncomfortable formal date improves when they find somewhere more relaxed. Their relationship develops while Elektra continues calling him back into her plans. Matt confronts her at the penthouse, where approaching attackers reveal that she expected retaliation for the hacking. She has brought his Daredevil suit and counted on him arriving to help her.
