Matt has the people rescued from the Hand taken secretly to Claire's hospital. Their condition alarms her, and Matt warns that Nobu may return for them. News of Frank's escape then brings Nelson and Murdock to Reyes's office. She admits that the carousel shooting involved a failed police operation and fears that Frank is targeting her daughter. Before they can resolve what to do, a gunman fires into the room, killing Reyes and wounding Foggy.
Matt suspects Fisk helped arrange Frank's escape and visits him in prison. Fisk denies responsibility until Matt threatens Vanessa's ability to return to the country. His anger becomes an assault, which Matt largely endures rather than reveal his fighting abilities. Fisk later orders another examination of Matt's files. Karen, unconvinced that Frank committed the office shooting, investigates further with Ellison and finds the medical examiner dead too, apparently another target in the same effort to erase the past.
At an airport, Elektra meets a man who turns out to be an assassin. She kills him and learns that Stick sent him. Frank reaches Karen's apartment and insists he is not the shooter; another attack on them both supports his denial. Back at the hospital, the rescued captives become threatening and Hand fighters climb the walls. Claire discovers that the people brought in as patients are connected to the attackers now arriving to take them away.
