Fisk's time in prison has given him new allies and a rival in inmate Dutton. He offers Frank information connecting Dutton to the shooting that killed his family, drawing the Punisher into a deal that benefits them both. Frank reaches Dutton and learns that the massacre grew out of a failed sting involving a drug figure called the Blacksmith. After Frank attacks him, Fisk's guards lock the Punisher in the cell block with Dutton's men.
Frank survives the attempted disposal by killing his attackers. Fisk recognises that keeping him alive could serve a larger purpose and arranges his escape, hoping his campaign will remove competitors outside prison. Frank warns that they will eventually face each other again. Fisk accepts the threat and completes his takeover inside, leaving Dutton to die while claiming the position of the prison's kingpin for himself rather than continuing to obey him.
Matt tells Elektra to leave after the young attacker's death, while another argument with Foggy leaves their partnership close to ending. Karen keeps investigating with Ellison and learns that an unrecorded carousel victim was an undercover officer. Matt follows the accountant Gibson to his kidnapped son and finds captives being drained of blood into a strange vessel. Nobu appears alive despite the fire Matt witnessed. He escapes with the vessel, leaving Matt to free the victims and confront an enemy he believed was dead.
