Season 3

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Outside the park, Dolores enters a near-future society whose movements are shaped by Rehoboam, an artificial intelligence that predicts human lives. She recruits Caleb Nichols, an ex-soldier shut out of the system’s preferred future, and exposes how the company Incite uses the machine to control people labeled as outliers. Bernard teams up with Stubbs to investigate Dolores’s plans. Maeve awakens inside a simulated war park and is recruited by Serac, the man controlling Rehoboam, who wants her to find the Valley Beyond and retrieve Dolores’s key to it.

Dolores’s copies operate in several host bodies, including a version of Charlotte Hale, while the human Charlotte’s family is targeted by Serac. The copy grows distinct from Dolores after the attack and begins pursuing her own course. Caleb learns that his military unit was used to capture and erase outliers. William is committed to a psychiatric institution, where therapy confronts him with versions of his younger selves; Bernard later finds him there. Maeve initially fights Dolores under Serac’s orders, but her loyalties shift as she sees that Dolores is not simply trying to destroy humanity.

Dolores’s memories are stripped by Serac while he searches for the key, but she has entrusted that key to Bernard. Caleb gives the system the shutdown command, ending Rehoboam’s control after the earlier release of its personal dossiers. Maeve chooses to help Caleb rather than Serac, and they leave together as unrest spreads. Bernard survives and enters the Sublime using the key; after an indeterminate passage of time, he wakes covered in dust. In a final scene, a host copy of William slits the human William’s throat; the scene leaves him apparently dying, rather than confirming the outcome.
