Season 2

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

In the aftermath of Ford’s death, Westworld’s hosts revolt and the park becomes a battlefield. Dolores leads a campaign to reach the Forge, the facility holding a record of guests’ behavior, believing it can help her carry the hosts into the outside world. Bernard, whose memories are fractured, follows the consequences of his own actions through competing recollections. Maeve searches for the daughter she remembers from an earlier loop, while Akecheta’s long journey reveals how he became conscious and why he has protected the child.

William’s daughter Emily arrives at the park, but he mistakes her for a host and kills her; later he discovers she was human. Dolores alters Teddy’s core drives to make him more ruthless, and he eventually kills himself rather than live with what she has made him. Maeve reaches her daughter, but helps her cross into the Valley Beyond, a host world stored in the Forge, instead of taking her back to the physical park. Lee Sizemore dies helping Maeve’s group escape. Bernard struggles to separate Ford’s influence from decisions he can make for himself, while Dolores rejects a refuge that would leave the hosts separated from the physical world.

Bernard shoots Dolores to stop the destruction of the Forge’s data. After witnessing Charlotte murder Elsie, he changes course and revives Dolores in a host body resembling Charlotte. Dolores kills the real Charlotte, preserves the surviving hosts’ digital refuge and adds Teddy to it. She leaves the park carrying several host pearls. Outside, she makes a new body for herself and rebuilds Bernard, whom she expects to oppose her. The post-credits scene moves to a distant future: a version of William undergoes a fidelity test conducted by someone resembling Emily. Its timing prevents that scene from proving the present-day William has already been replaced.
