Season 1

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

As Logan Roy’s eightieth birthday approaches, Kendall expects to be named his successor. Instead, Logan refuses to retire and keeps control of Waystar Royco. A stroke leaves him in a coma, and Kendall takes over as acting chief executive. He discovers the company’s debt and turns to his friend Stewy for investment. Logan wakes and treats Kendall’s rescue plan as a challenge to his authority. Shiv works for Senator Gil Eavis, while Roman and Connor pursue their own routes to influence.

Tom, newly placed over parks and cruises, finds records of a long-running cover-up of abuse on Waystar’s ships. Greg secretly keeps copies after Tom orders him to destroy them. Kendall tries to remove Logan through a boardroom vote of no confidence, but Logan intimidates enough directors to defeat it. Kendall’s next attempt is a hostile takeover with Stewy and rival investor Sandy Furness. When news of the bid leaks before Shiv and Tom’s wedding, Kendall tells Logan himself. His siblings are furious that the deal could take the company from them.

After the wedding’s family arguments and Logan’s cruel toast, Kendall seeks cocaine with a young waiter. Distracted while changing gears, Kendall fails to see a deer; the waiter grabs the wheel, and Kendall overcorrects, sending the car into a river. Kendall escapes but cannot free the waiter, then returns to the reception without reporting the crash. The next morning Logan confronts him with evidence and offers to make the death disappear if Kendall abandons the takeover. Kendall accepts the cover-up, and Logan keeps control of Waystar by turning his son’s secret into leverage.
