Season 2

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Pablo Escobar's escape from La Catedral turns the struggle into a hunt for a fugitive who still commands killers and money. He reunites with Tata and their children, but moving between hiding places wears down the family. President Gaviria offers a reward, while Steve Murphy and Javier Peña face pressure to capture him. Carrillo returns to the campaign with methods that disturb even the investigators working beside him. His death forces the Search Bloc to continue under new leadership.

The Cali cartel sees an opportunity to take Escobar's territory. A new enemy, Los Pepes, attacks his organisation, and Peña's loss of faith in official methods draws him into passing information to the group. That collaboration becomes a liability when Judy Moncada's interview exposes what has been happening. The DEA and CIA clash over Los Pepes as Escobar's terrorist violence turns more of Colombia against him. Tata is urged to leave with the children, and an attempt to send the family abroad becomes another opportunity for the government to apply pressure.

By the finale, Escobar is isolated with Limón while Tata begs him to surrender for their children's sake. Radio conversations help the authorities close in; after a failed attempt to locate him, Colonel Martínez's son spots him at a window. Murphy and the Colombian police converge on the hiding place. Escobar and Limón flee across rooftops and are both shot dead. Peña, meanwhile, faces what appears to be a disciplinary hearing over his dealings with Los Pepes. Instead, the officials turn to the growing Cali organisation. Escobar's death ends this pursuit without ending the cocaine trade.
