Pablo tries to turn Carrillo's killing of a child into public pressure against the Search Bloc. The accusation reaches government officials, who disagree over whether investigating it would help Pablo undermine the pursuit. Carrillo continues attacking the organisation, while Judy Moncada and the Cali leaders consider working with the Castaño brothers against the enemy whose violence threatens all of them.
Limón persuades Maritza that they can arrange Pablo's capture and secure a safe future for her daughter. She passes information through Peña's contact, and the apparent lead is supported by intercepted communications. Murphy and Peña prepare to participate, but their superiors keep them off the raid because of the controversy surrounding Carrillo. The Colombian force therefore follows the location without its usual American partners beside it.
The lead is a trap. Pablo's men ambush the convoy in a narrow street, leaving Carrillo wounded and his officers cut down. Pablo arrives and kills Carrillo himself, returning the cartridge sent through the child and invoking Gustavo's death. Maritza learns that Limón has used her to help arrange the ambush rather than betray Pablo. As the government searches for someone to blame, Sandoval resigns. Peña is taken to a meeting with Judy and the Castaños, who offer another way to pursue the fugitive.
