Cambalache

Pablo answers Gaviria's refusal to negotiate by insisting that an agreement is still possible. His lawyer approaches the attorney general, opening a channel outside the president's control. Meanwhile, American involvement grows under Ambassador Arthur Crosby and the newly arrived DEA chief Claudia Messina. Murphy and Peña must adjust to supervision after years of choosing their own methods in the field.

Colonel Pinzón takes charge of the Colombian operation and floods the streets with soldiers. His approach collides with the investigators' need for discretion and local intelligence. A lead involving La Quica helps them identify a possible hiding place, and intercepted calls narrow the search to a finca with escape routes. Messina pushes the request upward until Pinzón is ordered to support a raid, demonstrating that she can act despite his resistance.

The operation reaches Pablo's refuge, but its noisy approach gives him time to flee with his family through an escape route. The investigators find signs that he was there and another empty house instead of their target. Pablo sees the intrusion as an attack on his household and abandons any immediate restraint. His lookouts track the soldiers in the neighbourhoods, allowing his men to kill them in coordinated attacks. While Pablo dances with Tata, the streets fill with the consequences of the failed raid.
