Season synopsis

Jonas escapes the apocalypse into a parallel Winden where he was never born: Mikkel stayed in his own time. He meets a younger version of the Martha who rescued him, then learns that her elderly self, Eva, directs another organisation manipulating events. Where Adam seeks to destroy the knot linking their worlds, Eva preserves it. Jonas and Martha conceive a son whose existence ties their families together. Seen at three ages travelling together, this unnamed man carries out killings and interventions that maintain the cycle.
The apocalypse briefly permits branching realities, explaining how apparently incompatible outcomes coexist. The rescued Jonas is shot by another version of Martha, while the Jonas who was never rescued survives to become Adam. Likewise, one Martha becomes Eva and protects her son, while another follows Adam’s instructions, hoping to save Jonas. Adam kills that pregnant Martha with energy drawn from both apocalypses, believing he has destroyed the origin. Nothing changes. Claudia, searching for a way to save Regina, reveals the missing explanation: both worlds were created by H. G. Tannhaus in a third, original world. His attempt to reverse the deaths of his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter split reality instead.
Following Claudia’s discovery, Adam redirects Jonas, who retrieves Martha before she is recruited into Adam’s plan. Together they reach the origin world and stop Tannhaus’s son Marek driving towards the fatal accident. Marek returns home with his family, removing the grief that would have driven Tannhaus to build his machine. Jonas and Martha disappear along with the worlds and people dependent on the knot. In the surviving Winden, Regina shares dinner with Katharina, Peter, Benni, Hannah and Wöller. During a power cut, the pregnant Hannah recalls a dream of darkness and considers Jonas as her baby’s name.
