Season 3

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Chuck’s recording of Jimmy’s Mesa Verde confession becomes the start of a trap. After Kim tells Jimmy about the tape, he breaks into Chuck’s house and destroys it in front of Chuck, Howard and a private investigator; their testimony leads to Jimmy’s arrest. Chuck then offers a route away from prison: Jimmy accepts pre-prosecution diversion and admits the break-in in writing, while the bar separately reviews whether he should keep practicing law. At the disciplinary hearing, Jimmy and Kim challenge Chuck’s account of the brothers’ conflict. Chuck’s outburst damages his credibility, and the bar keeps Jimmy licensed but suspends him for a year.

With his legal practice stalled, Jimmy sells television advertising. He manipulates Irene Landry, a Sandpiper representative, to push residents toward a settlement and speed his share of the case. When Kim is injured in a car crash after driving exhausted, Jimmy recognizes the harm his pressure has caused and helps restore Irene’s place among her friends, sacrificing the faster payout. Kim cancels the Gatwood Oil case and puts her remaining work, including Mesa Verde, on hold while she recovers at home.

Mike’s conflict with Hector draws him into an alliance with Gus Fring. Nacho, desperate to keep Hector from using his father’s upholstery shop for cartel business, secretly replaces Hector’s heart medication with lookalike pills. Hector collapses during a meeting with Gus, but survives. Howard buys Chuck out of HHM, ending his legal career there. Jimmy visits his brother and offers an apology, but Chuck tells him he never mattered much to him. Alone and convinced his home still contains electricity, Chuck tears it apart and finally kicks over a lantern; the resulting fire consumes the house, and Chuck dies.
