Approach and preparation
Flamelurker waits at the bottom of 2-2, the Tunnel City. Begin at the Armor Spider Archstone and decide which of the two routes you want before another attempt. The left route is longer and full of pickups; the right-side drop route is much faster but leaves little room for a mistake. Once you know the fast route, it is the practical boss run. Bring enough grass to learn the fight, a weapon you can swing without draining all your stamina, and any fire-resistance gear already in your inventory. The floor itself has burning patches, so leave a clear lane back from the fog rather than treating every part of the cave as safe ground.
Wait for the committed slam
Keep Flamelurker in front of you. Its basic pressure comes from running punches, side swings, uppercuts, and a fist slam that leaves fire on the floor. Back away from the approach, then watch for the slam instead of attacking through the first swing. When the fist hits the ground, wait for the fire patch to settle and take a short response at the side or back. A jump slam is another clear opening: move under or past the jump rather than away from it, turn, and strike while the demon recovers.
Do not try to trade with the punch string at a wall. The cave camera makes it hard to see a second swing, and the fire left by a slam can turn a normal retreat into a burn. Move through the open middle after each exchange. A spell or bow can help, but cast only after a committed slam or jump. Firing while the demon is running at you simply turns a slow animation into a free hit for it.
Flamelurker has no cinematic phase transition, but its low-health behaviour is more urgent: the flames brighten and its attacks come with less comfortable recovery time. This is where a melee build should reduce a two-hit opening to one hit and where a caster should use prepared ranged damage instead of reaching for a long close-range punish. Do not heal the instant it makes space. First make it commit to a punch or a jump, then heal while the recovery is visible. That keeps the next lunge on screen.
Reward and next step
The reward is the Searing Demon Soul. Return to Blacksmith Ed in 2-1 and keep talking until he accepts it. Ed already handles ordinary Stonefang work, but this hand-in unlocks boss-soul weapon forging and the advanced work tied to Colorless Demon Souls. It is a key progression item, so do not consume it. The new Flamelurker Archstone takes you into the Underground Temple and Dragon God; before that, use Ed to decide whether your current weapon should keep its path or become part of a future boss weapon.
