Dark Souls III: Covenants and Invasions
On this page
Covenants are equipped as an item. They define what can happen when you play online: helping a host, defending an area, answering a call for protection, or invading another world. Pick one for its activity and reward path rather than treating it as a permanent class label.
For co-op, place a summon sign in a place where another player can reasonably see it before a boss or difficult route. For invasions, learn the stage first. A fight near enemies, ladders, or a narrow bridge is rarely a clean measure of your weapon. Give yourself a retreat path and keep enough stamina to disengage.
If a session is frustrating, return to solo progress and improve a single weapon or learn the next boss. Covenant items can wait until the character has enough health, stamina, and damage to make the activity fun. The base-game route does not require covenant progress; see Base-Game Progression for the mandatory road.
