Dark Souls III: Weapon Upgrades

Reinforce the weapon you can land hits with
Blacksmith Andre at Firelink Shrine handles reinforcement. Ordinary weapons, shields, and spell tools use the regular titanite path, which reaches +10. Unique weapons use Twinkling Titanite, while many boss-transposed weapons use Titanite Scales; those paths finish at +5. Each family needs a Titanite Slab for its final step, so leave that last decision until you know the weapon will stay in your hands.
Upgrade strength often improves an early character more than a few damage-stat levels. Pick a weapon you can use comfortably, meet its requirements, and push it forward before scattering materials over every new drop. Keep a second tool only when it has a job, such as a bow to pull an enemy or strike damage for a particular defence.
Infuse to support your attributes
Infusions change damage and scaling. Heavy tends toward Strength, Sharp toward Dexterity, and Refined supports a more even physical-stat split. Raw raises base damage but removes scaling, which can suit a low-level character. Fire and Deep add elemental damage without attribute scaling; magic, lightning, chaos, dark, and other paths have different attribute relationships. Test the displayed damage after the change instead of choosing from a letter grade alone.
Coals expand Andre’s infusion options. Bring the Coal to him, then select Infuse Weapon, rather than expecting a gem to change a weapon from the inventory. Some equipment cannot be infused, including many unique and boss weapons. This guide covers the base-game system; both expansions add weapons, but they do not replace Andre’s core reinforcement paths. When a boss is the wall, use the Boss Progression page to decide whether another route is open.
