About PUBG MOBILE
Two products share this title, and only one of them is in front of you. Once you know which, the mode list changes every season and the settings menus are where the touch layout becomes yours.
Classic is still a full battle royale
Match length depends on the mode, map and how long you survive. Classic Mode is the full thing: a hundred players, a plane, a shrinking circle, and a match that ends when the circle and the surviving lobbies say it ends. Leave enough time for a full Classic round rather than assuming it will fit a short break.
What carries over from the PC game is more than the name. Erangel — the Black Sea-inspired island, reworked here as Erangel 2.0 with more cover and buildings — Miramar, the desert map rebuilt with an oasis and vending machines, and Karakin, a 2x2km map with penetrable walls, destructible bunkers and its own Black Zone, all come from the same design family. So do the systems around them: attachment-based gunplay, air drops, and the blue zone that closes the playable area down. Map knowledge and looting instinct are the parts of a PC habit that travel; thumb-on-glass aiming is the part that does not.
The side modes rotate
The current store listing names Classic Mode, Payload, fast 4v4 Arena battles and Infection Mode, and the official help centre documents rather more than that. Arcade mode gathers War, Casual and Sniper matches, and only Casual runs all the time — Sniper and War each open on specific days and close the following morning. Team Deathmatch is a 4v4 mode on The Ruins and Warehouse where you respawn with your weapons and race to a kill target, Gear Arena puts two teams in vehicles to shoot each other, and a Human versus AI mode lets a squad play against bots on Livik without the result counting toward tier.
Payload is the one worth calling out, because it is where the game stops being a straight battle royale. It is a survival mode built around gear Classic does not have: helicopters, vehicles fitted with guns or flamethrowers, a base that appears once a match is under way, and tools such as air strikes and radar, with communication towers used to bring teammates back with their ID cards. Because the mode list also moves with seasons and events, treat the four names on the store page as today's snapshot and check the lobby for what is actually live.
Controls: the trade, and what is worth changing
Touch controls are straightforward on paper — a cross-mark on the left to move, a drag anywhere on empty screen to swing your view, buttons for firing, aiming, running, sitting, going prone and jumping — and the editor is where they become personal. Under Settings, Controls splits the layout into Classic mode and Arena Team mode, and a layout customised in one cannot simply be copied to the other.
Sensitivity has its own layer on top: shared values for viewpoint, scopes and aiming, plus an Exclusive Sensitivity tab where a single weapon can be given its own numbers while everything else keeps the shared settings. The cloud copy is worth understanding before you use it, because it uploads every weapon's settings at once. Automatic looting lives in Pickup Settings, where weapons and attachments, ammo, healing items and throwables can each be switched on or off, which is the difference between arriving at a fight with what you need and arriving with a bag full of what you did not.
Touch aiming needs its own practice. The settings above and the training grounds — where every vehicle, weapon and attachment is available along with parkour and driving practice — give you somewhere to learn the controls.
Where a match is actually decided
Most rounds turn on two things, and neither of them is the first firefight. The first is the blue zone: a circle that shrinks through the match and inflicts steadily increasing damage on anyone outside it, so the question is rarely whether to move but when, and whether the ground you are moving to is worth more than the fight you are leaving.
The second is the air drop. Crates are dropped by planes, marked by red smoke, and hold valuable equipment — which is exactly why the smoke draws a fight. Between them, dropping, looting and rotating early enough to be inside the next circle is most of the game; the combat is what happens when two people's rotations disagree. That part is the same instinct you would use on PC, executed through a different control layout.
Should you play it
Yes, if you want battle royale tension that fits around the rest of your day. The mode spread covers three different moods — a full-length Classic round, the respawning 4v4 fights, and the gear-heavy Payload set pieces — and the training grounds give the mechanical side somewhere to live outside a real match.
Two things to weigh. This is a live service with ads, in-game purchases and rotating content, so the modes and rewards you read about today are the ones to check against the app in front of you. And if precise aiming matters to you more than portability, no amount of settings tuning turns a phone into a mouse.
