Bernard's attempts to find a surviving future include simulations of a visit to the Hoover Dam with Maeve. When they make the actual journey, she defeats the security machine guarding the facility, and Bernard opens access to the Sublime. Maeve agrees to continue if he will eventually reunite her with her daughter. The group then separates in the city: Frankie and Stubbs seek Caleb while Bernard and Maeve approach Hale's tower. Hale plans to place humans in storage and move hosts into new bodies. Before the confrontation, Bernard admits to Maeve that they cannot save the existing world, only a small part of it.
Christina orders Olympiad's staff out, tells its writers to destroy their narratives and has Caleb released. Frankie finds him and proves her identity through their shared memories. Host William kills the imprisoned human William, then interrupts Maeve's fight with Hale and shoots both women in the head. He kills Bernard after Bernard records a message, and changes the tower's signal to make the humans attack one another. Caleb, Frankie and Stubbs escape into the violence, where Frankie is wounded. Christina tries to stop the fighting, but the people cannot see or hear her. Teddy tells her that the world is real, while she is not physically present within it.
