Monica Rambeau returns to existence in a crowded hospital and discovers that her mother died during her absence. Back at S.W.O.R.D., director Tyler Hayward assigns her to a missing-person investigation in New Jersey. FBI investigator Jimmy Woo meets her outside Westview, where local police insist the town does not exist despite the sign in front of them. Monica sends a drone toward the town and loses it. When she touches the energy field surrounding Westview, it pulls her inside.
S.W.O.R.D. establishes a camp at the boundary and brings in Darcy Lewis. Darcy detects a television signal and uses an older set to watch Wanda and Vision living inside a sitcom. The investigators begin matching the show's supporting characters to actual Westview residents. Monica appears on the screen as Geraldine. Jimmy tries to contact Wanda through a radio, but the broadcast skips over the disturbance. Another operative enters through the sewers, his protective suit becoming the beekeeper outfit Wanda previously rejected.
The investigation catches up with Geraldine's disappearance after the twins' birth. Inside the house, Wanda confronts Monica about her necklace and the reference to Ultron, then blasts her through the wall and out of town. Wanda repairs the damage before Vision arrives. For a moment, she sees him as a lifeless body with a wound in his forehead, before his familiar appearance returns. Vision offers to leave with her, but Wanda insists they belong at home. Outside the barrier, Monica tells the rescuers that Wanda is responsible.
