Vincenzo enters the witness box because a deliberately provoked fight with Babel Chemicals' team leaders has made him part of the case. He explains the company's unsafe practices and produces messages from a manager's phone linking Babel to intimidation and concealment. Cha-young also calls medical director Gil's wife, who exposes her husband's dishonest conduct. The hearing breaks Babel's defence, and the company announces the closure of the relevant department while trying to contain the public damage.
That victory does not remove the threat to Geumga Plaza. Vincenzo learns that demolition is again approaching, and an expert's inspection warns that drilling towards the gold could destroy the weak foundations. The residents have meanwhile heard the visitor's account of a hidden fortune and no longer want the relocation Vincenzo arranged. Their refusal to leave frustrates his plans, although they continue to present their decision as a fight to protect the building.
Wusang has Cha-young arrested on accusations connected to her former work. Vincenzo negotiates with Myung-hee to secure her release while Cha-young pieces together his Mafia background. He also arranges outside help to stand against the demolition gang, but the hired protesters cannot arrive. The tenants fight Seok-do's men themselves. When Vincenzo and Cha-young return, they find their neighbours locked in a chaotic struggle that resembles the painting of a popular uprising Vincenzo had shown them, with the plaza's residents taking the place of its fighters.
