Hong Yu-chan dies after the truck attack, while Vincenzo survives and remains unconscious for days. Cha-young grieves as news reports smear her father's name and Babel's painkiller moves towards the market. The researcher who could have supported his case is also found dead. When Vincenzo wakes, he and Cha-young begin investigating the collision. She resigns from Wusang and returns to Jipuragi, choosing to continue the work she once fought her father over.
Their search leads from the imprisoned truck driver to the men who hired him. Vincenzo loudly thanks the driver for cooperating, making him a target for the people behind the attack; the driver is subsequently killed in prison. Cha-young wants revenge but objects to taking lives. With Nam Joo-sung's special-effects skills, the new team stages shootings to frighten their captives into talking. Vincenzo also terrifies Myung-hee with a truck that swerves before striking her.
The information they extract gives Jipuragi a target beyond the men carrying out orders. Cha-young and helpers disguised as a cleaning crew enter Babel Pharmaceuticals' warehouse and spread fuel instead of disinfectant. Vincenzo ignites it after they leave, destroying the stock in a huge fire. The attack gives Cha-young a direct answer to the company that benefited from her father's death. It also reveals another enemy to the audience: her apparently harmless former intern Jang Joon-woo arrives as the hidden boss controlling chairman Jang Han-seo.
