The wine party saves Geumga Plaza for the night, with an Italian ambassador among the guests making demolition especially difficult. Vincenzo knows the celebration only buys time. He pressures Babel's development representative with evidence of corruption to delay further action, while An Ki-seok takes a job with Chef Toto to keep watching him. Vincenzo's efforts to clear the temple floor for access to the gold look like generosity to the watching investigator.
Yu-chan's pharmaceutical case becomes more dangerous when the lawyers discuss Babel's new painkiller, RDU-90. The drama depicts a drug with the potential to cause widespread addiction, and researcher Yoo Min-chul describes deadly trials that Babel wants hidden. Yu-chan refuses to abandon the victims despite Vincenzo's warnings about the company's violence. A hospital visit also reveals a personal connection: the imprisoned patient Oh Gyeong-ja is Vincenzo's mother, and Yu-chan has recognised their relationship.
Cha-young loses control of Babel's cases at Wusang and directs her anger at her father, reopening their painful disagreement over her mother's death. Vincenzo urges her to avoid words she may regret, but the family remains divided. Later, he and Yu-chan share drinks while the missing researcher repeatedly calls for help. Yu-chan returns the calls too late to reach him. As the two men wait in the restaurant, a truck crashes straight through their table, leaving Vincenzo staring at the injured Yu-chan before he loses consciousness.
