Vincenzo's rooftop execution is interrupted by Inzaghi and a flock of pigeons. The distraction gives him enough time to fight and kill the men sent from Italy. He keeps Cha-young away from the scene when she approaches the stairs. Babel's money-laundering evidence appears to offer another victory when prosecutor Jung arrests Han-seok, but Jung then betrays Jipuragi and takes responsibility for the investigation's misconduct himself in return for a career advance.
Vincenzo confronts Jung at his home and warns that his reward will not protect him indefinitely. He also reveals to Cha-young that he kept the Guillotine File after the vault incident. Jipuragi studies its contents and finds a route into Daechang Daily, whose president Oh has concealed a murder of his own. Vincenzo replaces the president's trusted shaman and uses those secrets to convince him that remaining allied with Babel will bring about his death.
President Oh begins publishing damaging stories about Babel and Han-seok, following the false shaman's instructions to protect himself. While Jipuragi enjoys the deception, Myung-hee starts looking for Vincenzo's family as another way to hurt him. His relationship with his mother is becoming warmer, making that search especially dangerous. Later, an intruder draws Vincenzo through the plaza towards the balcony. President Oh's body suddenly lands nearby, and police appear with their weapons drawn. The man Vincenzo manipulated against Babel has become the victim in a murder accusation directed at him.
