Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri try to stay together while rival kingdoms, mages and Nilfgaard seek control of the princess. The hunt leads Geralt toward missing young women and Teryn, a novice magically made to believe she is Ciri. At the mages' gathering, Geralt and Yennefer first suspect Stregobor. A painting and the disturbed portal Yennefer encountered instead help them recognize Vilgefortz as the power behind their enemies.
The gathering becomes a coup. Dijkstra's allies seize mages accused of serving Nilfgaard, but Tissaia frees them, only to discover Vilgefortz's betrayal. He opens a portal for the elven attack. Geralt kills Rience, then suffers devastating injuries fighting Vilgefortz while Ciri flees. Yennefer returns to help at Aretuza. The battle leaves the school ruined, and Tissaia later dies by suicide. The surviving sorceresses must face the destruction of the institution they trusted.
Ciri's escape through Tor Lara takes her to a desert, where isolation, visions and dangerous magic test her survival. Captured after that ordeal, she escapes with the Rats, kills her captor and introduces herself as Falka. Meanwhile, Geralt recovers in Brokilon and hears that Emhyr has supposedly recovered Ciri. The girl presented to the emperor is actually Teryn. Still injured, Geralt leaves with Jaskier and Milva to find the princess, intervening against Nilfgaardian soldiers instead of maintaining his old refusal to take sides.
