Nothing Like It In the World

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Mallory gives Butcher Becca's location and asks the Boys to investigate a former superhero called Liberty. Butcher goes to the guarded compound alone, while Hughie and Mother's Milk take the investigation onto the road. Annie joins them after persuading Homelander that she hates Hughie and can still be trusted. Their time together offers some relief from hiding, but Annie cannot ignore the danger that her relationship brings to them both.

Butcher reaches Becca and proposes an escape, yet his hostility toward Ryan prevents the reunion he wants. She recognizes that he might abandon her son and refuses to leave with him. Back at Vought, Homelander removes A-Train from the Seven because his damaged heart limits his speed. He also publicly reveals Maeve's relationship with Elena, turning something she has guarded for safety into material for the company's publicity.

The road trip brings Hughie, Annie and Mother's Milk to Valerie Hunter. She explains that Liberty killed her brother and that Vought paid her family to stay silent. When they say Liberty has not been seen for decades, Valerie identifies Stormfront as the same woman. Annie ends her renewed closeness with Hughie on their return, fearing for him. Homelander, meanwhile, kills Doppelganger after using the shapeshifter to recreate Stillwell, insisting that he no longer needs anyone else's love.
