Kendall prepares to give the Justice Department documents from Waystar’s cruise scandal, but Lisa warns that the papers may not prove as much as he thinks. He ignores her advice. Meanwhile, Logan attends the Future Freedom Summit in Richmond to choose a presidential candidate who will protect Waystar from investigators and competition in streaming. Roman and Shiv learn that their mother Caroline is marrying Peter Munion in Tuscany, while Connor uses the gathering to promote his own presidential run. Roman meets Congressman Jeryd Mencken, an online provocateur whose views appeal to him. Shiv favors the more conventional Rick Salgado, who offers to help her become CEO if he wins.
Tom takes Greg to a diner and agrees to absorb blame for Greg’s part in the cruise cover-up. Kendall’s testimony goes badly the next day; Lisa says he has weakened his case and he fires her. After arriving in Virginia, Kendall asks Tom to testify against Logan in exchange for avoiding prison, but Tom refuses, saying he has watched Kendall lose to his father too many times. Roman sees a political advantage in Mencken’s extreme rhetoric: it could bring viewers and advertising to ATN. Logan hears the pitch and decides to back Mencken, despite Shiv’s objections that the candidate is dangerous. The family poses with him the next morning. Shiv joins the photograph only after Logan presses her, and keeps her distance from her father.
