Episode 6

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Eric returns to school quieter and less colorful after the attack, refusing Otis's attempts to reconnect. His anger erupts when he punches Anwar, bringing a suspension and leaving him more isolated. Otis tries to solve his own anxiety by arranging to become intimate with Lily, who is also eager to end her inexperience. The encounter instead triggers memories of his father's infidelity and his mother's distress. He panics, and the plan stops. At home, he asks Jean whether he reminds her of his father. She reassures him and urges him to keep trying to make things right with Eric.

Maeve's brother Sean returns to the caravan and immediately disrupts the life she has managed alone. Jackson enjoys spending time with him, but Maeve is less confident that Sean can be relied on. At school, Adam receives praise for the essay Maeve wrote, and Miss Sands questions whether the work is really his. Otis recognizes Maeve's voice and tells her that she should have received the award herself. She approaches Miss Sands about the aptitude scheme she previously resisted. Meanwhile, Otis helps Aimee think about what she wants from her relationship with Steve, and Ola gives him her number. Maeve ends the day holding the jumper Otis lent her as Jackson and Sean laugh together outside.
