Peaky Blinders

Season 3

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Tommy marries Grace and moves his family into a country house, yet his new business depends on a secretive group that wants him to help Russian aristocrats. At the wedding, a stranger uses the wrong code word and the Shelbys kill him. The Romanovs bring Tommy into their plans, while Father Hughes and the Economic League exert their own pressure. They threaten Tommy’s young son Charlie and keep close watch on the family as the Peaky Blinders prepare an ambitious theft involving Russian armoured cars and jewels.

Tommy’s plans grow more dangerous after John attacks Angel Changretta, whose father Vicente sends a gunman who kills Grace while aiming for Tommy at a charity event. Grief drives Tommy into a violent campaign against the Changrettas and closer dealings with Tatiana Petrovna, while Arthur tries to leave crime under Linda’s influence. Polly tells another priest in confession that Tommy intends to kill Hughes, and the information reaches him. Tommy discovers Hughes is playing both Russian sides and recruits old tunnelling comrades and Alfie Solomons as he prepares to strike.

On the day of the heist, Hughes kidnaps Charlie, forcing Tommy to confront the tunnels and the war trauma he has tried to bury. Michael kills Hughes and the child is recovered, and Tommy learns that Tatiana was part of the plan to take the real jewels from the Russians. The robbery succeeds, but the family’s celebration ends when Tommy reveals that police are coming to arrest Arthur, John, Michael and Polly. He says he has made a deal. The police take them into custody while Tommy watches, leaving the terms of his deal unresolved.
