Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier MCU stories.
Clint Barton’s Christmas visit to New York becomes an attempt to contain the consequences of his years as Ronin. Kate Bishop, an accomplished young archer who idolizes Hawkeye, discovers the Ronin suit at a black-market auction and wears it while fighting the Tracksuit Mafia. The gang mistakes her for the killer it wants to find. Clint rescues Kate, sends his children home and promises to join them by Christmas. Kate also discovers the murdered Armand Duquesne and begins suspecting Jack, the man engaged to her mother Eleanor.
The investigation brings them into conflict with Maya Lopez, whose father Clint killed as Ronin. Clint’s damaged hearing aid makes an already difficult escape harder, and Kate helps him communicate with his son by phone. Their partnership develops through trick arrows, improvised rescues and help from local role-players. Yelena Belova arrives seeking revenge for Natasha Romanoff’s death. Clint admits his Ronin identity to Maya but reveals that someone working for her boss supplied the information that led him to her father. Yelena uncovers Eleanor’s connection to crime lord Wilson Fisk.
Eleanor has killed Armand and framed Jack; her attempt to leave Fisk’s operation turns the holiday party into a target. Clint and Kate battle the Tracksuits around Rockefeller Center, while Maya kills Kazi after he refuses to leave with her. Kate defeats Fisk with trick arrows and lets police arrest her mother. Yelena finally accepts Clint’s account of Natasha’s sacrifice and spares him. Fisk escapes Kate, only to face Maya and an offscreen gunshot; this series leaves the outcome unconfirmed. Clint reaches home with Kate and Lucky the dog, returns a recovered watch to his wife Laura, and burns the Ronin suit.
