Yelena Belova disappears during the Blip while visiting another former Black Widow. From her perspective, the bathroom changes around her in an instant, but five years have passed and Natasha is dead. In New York, Kate returns to Eleanor after Clint ends their partnership and tells her about Jack's connection to Sloan Limited. When Kate visits her fire-damaged apartment, she finds Yelena waiting with macaroni and cheese and an explanation of her assignment.
Yelena says she has been hired to kill Clint and challenges Kate's faith in a man who has killed so many people. Kate defends him and questions whoever commissioned the murder. Jack is later arrested over Sloan Limited. Meanwhile, Clint rests at Grills' apartment, then visits the Avengers memorial to speak to Natasha before putting on the Ronin suit again. He sends Maya a message arranging a meeting at the place where her father died. After disabling the gang members guarding her, he fights Maya and removes his mask.
Clint admits that he killed William but says an informant working for Maya's boss directed him there because the boss wanted William dead. Kate interrupts when Maya attacks again, allowing Clint to escape with her. Maya then questions Kazi about his absence on the night of the killing. Yelena follows Eleanor and sends Kate the name of the person who hired her: her own mother. A photograph shows Eleanor meeting another man, whom Clint recognises as Kingpin, connecting Kate's family to the boss behind the gang.
