Eun-tak's ability to see the sword forces Kim Shin to acknowledge her as his bride. He rushes to tell the Grim Reaper, torn between relief that his long life can end and fear now that the moment is possible. Eun-tak has a more immediate problem: her relatives have left, and she needs somewhere to live. Shin arranges a hotel suite, with Deok-hwa instructed to look after her.
The luxurious room does little to ease Eun-tak's loneliness when Shin keeps avoiding her. He has also gone to the Reaper's tea room to greet the man he once helped as a child in Paris. That man used his second chance to help others and now reaches the end of his life. Shin thanks the Reaper for allowing him to say goodbye before the soul moves onward.
Eun-tak summons Shin to demand an explanation for his absence, and their time together becomes less guarded. He tells her that she is the only bride who can remove the sword, while leaving its fatal consequence unspoken. After ghosts defend her from a school bully, Shin takes her back to Quebec. Watching her run toward him across the street, he recognizes the feeling as his first love.
