Eun-tak's trip to Quebec brings her close to Kim Shin and to the gaps in her memory. A jewellery maker recognizes her necklace as a design ordered by a Korean man years earlier. Shin shows her around, speaking of a first love she does not realize is herself. At the cemetery, his picture and the notes she left herself make her demand an explanation he initially avoids giving.
Her memories finally return, and Eun-tak summons Shin, running into his arms. They can come back to Korea as lovers who remember their shared past. Sunny has also kept her memories, despite pretending otherwise: she challenged the deity's right to take them away. Her meeting with the Reaper lets her acknowledge the man she has missed, while deciding what she can bear in this lifetime.
Eun-tak resumes visiting the Reaper and summoning Shin, but reaching twenty-nine recalls the warning attached to her life as a missing soul. Sunny makes arrangements to leave her home and business, giving Eun-tak a goodbye that sounds more final than she expects. Shin sees a glimpse of Sunny happy with the Reaper, without yet knowing how that will happen. He then tells Eun-tak that she was always his first love and asks her to marry him.
