Kim Shin and the Grim Reaper realize that Deok-hwa knows things neither has told him. Confronting him reveals a deity using his body, who challenges their complaints about fate before departing in butterflies. Deok-hwa wakes without understanding what has happened. Chairman Yoo's death then brings a different loss, and Shin, Eun-tak and the Reaper support the grandson as he begins facing responsibilities he used to avoid.
The Reaper kisses Sunny so that she can remember her life as Queen Kim Sun. She sees the king's cruelty and her own choice to stand as her brother's sister. The Reaper asks her to keep only happy memories and forget him, hoping to spare her more grief. Sunny nevertheless recognizes Shin and greets him as her brother, giving him a reunion he had almost stopped expecting.
Park Joong-heon's ghost turns these discoveries against them. Eun-tak tells Shin that she has met the dead adviser, and Shin attacks him, only to find his sword passing through without destroying him. Park tells him that the Reaper is Wang Yeo, the king who ordered his death. Shin connects the ring, portrait and memories, then finds the Reaper at the temple. He seizes his throat and addresses him as his king.
