The Grim Reaper's glimpse of Sunny's previous life draws him toward the woman in Kim Shin's portrait. Shin explains the royal history: he was asked to protect the young Wang Yeo and arrange his sister Kim Sun's marriage to him. The king's adviser worked to undermine that trust. In the present, Sunny's name and the Reaper's memories make Shin consider whether his sister has returned.
Eun-tak learns that a ghost who has stayed close to her was her mother's friend and helped protect the insurance money. She says goodbye when that spirit is ready to leave, and Shin asks Secretary Kim to recover the money legally. Deok-hwa faces a different adjustment when he is given an entry-level job and expected to work without special treatment, despite being the chairman's grandson.
Sunny refuses to continue dating a man who cannot tell her who he is, leaving the Reaper heartbroken. Eun-tak and Shin try to arrange another meeting, with little success. Their own New Year date ends more happily with a kiss. Shin buys the necklace he saw on Eun-tak in his vision, but also senses Chairman Yoo's coming death. The Reaper finally shares enough of Sunny's past to convince him she is his sister.
