Jon Snow and Daenerys bring their armies to Winterfell as the Night King advances. Sam tells Jon he is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, with a claim to the Iron Throne. Jaime arrives and joins the defenders. During the battle, the Night King raises the fallen and reaches the godswood. As he approaches Bran, Arya ambushes and kills him. The White Walkers and their army collapse with him.
The survivors turn south toward Cersei. Euron’s fleet kills Rhaegal and captures Missandei, who is executed outside King’s Landing. Varys tries to put Jon on the throne; Daenerys discovers his plan and has him killed. Jaime travels south to reach Cersei before the siege. The city’s bells signal surrender, but Daenerys keeps burning King’s Landing and its people. The Hound and the Mountain kill each other, while Jaime and Cersei die beneath the collapsing Red Keep.
The destruction leaves Jon and Tyrion horrified. Daenerys plans to carry her campaign beyond Westeros, and Tyrion resigns as Hand. He warns Jon about what her rule could mean for the people and the Stark family. Jon confronts Daenerys in the Red Keep and kills her. Drogon melts the Iron Throne, picks up her body, and flies away. The Unsullied hold Jon and Tyrion prisoner while Westeros’s leaders gather to decide what comes next.
Tyrion proposes Bran Stark as king, and the gathered leaders choose him. Bran names Tyrion Hand. Sansa secures independence for the North and is crowned its queen. Arya sails west to explore, while Jon is sentenced to the Night’s Watch to appease the Unsullied. He reunites with Tormund and Ghost at Castle Black, then travels north beyond the Wall with the Free Folk.
