Matt survives the taxi's plunge and reaches his apartment, but Fisk has another way to pursue him. He names Matt as an associate in his dealings with the FBI, turning the lawyer into a suspect. Ray's team searches the apartment and finds wet clothing, while Matt listens from the roof after narrowly avoiding them. Karen's attempt to pressure Felix Manning also fails when he demonstrates detailed knowledge of her past and threatens the security she thought she had in New York.
The FBI questions Karen and Foggy about their connection to Fisk and Wesley. Karen fears what the investigation could uncover and finally tells Foggy that she killed Wesley. Her admission gives him a different understanding of the danger she has carried alone. Fisk, meanwhile, studies Dex's history through records that expose the violence and instability beneath the controlled behaviour of the man who has just saved his life.
Memories show Dex killing a baseball coach as a child and receiving therapy from Dr. Mercer. Her guidance stresses routine and a positive person to follow, but her approaching death threatens that support. Julie later occupies that place in Dex's life after they work together at a crisis hotline. Fisk arranges for them to meet at the hotel. Their dinner ends badly when Dex reveals knowledge gained by stalking her, leaving him alone and furious as the FBI continues searching for Matt.
