Matt asks Karen to help locate Jasper Evans, the prisoner who stabbed Fisk and then disappeared from custody. She initially rejects another request from the friend who allowed her to believe he was dead. Foggy helps persuade her to cooperate, and they require Matt to surrender to the FBI once Evans can expose the staged attack. Karen also visits Maggie, learning more about Matt's anger and fear of abandonment before tracking Evans to a drug den.
Fisk continues breaking down Dex's remaining supports. He describes murdering his own father and presents their violent histories as something the world refuses to understand. Publicity about the convoy investigation gets Dex suspended, taking away the routine of his job. As Dex's isolation becomes dangerous, Fisk calls with acceptance and promises he will stay with him. A new Daredevil suit gives Dex a role in the criminal plan that follows.
Matt, Karen and Foggy bring Evans to the Bulletin to meet the FBI, but the lights fail before the interview. Dex enters in the red suit and attacks the staff, turning ordinary objects into accurate, deadly weapons. Matt fights him in his black hood but cannot stop him reaching the room with their witness. Dex wounds Ellison and kills Evans with Karen's gun, then escapes. Ray arrives to the aftermath believing Daredevil committed the massacre, while Matt withdraws injured and the evidence against Fisk lies dead.
