Matt uses Foggy's identification to enter the prison where Fisk was held. Hoping to reach Albanian leader Vic Jusufi, he asks a former client for help and is sent to the infirmary after a staged confrontation. A medical worker injects him and attacks, revealing that Fisk anticipated his visit. Matt must fight through prisoners and guards as a riot turns the building into another trap, with the drug making his escape increasingly difficult.
The Albanians eventually help him after he explains why he came. Jusufi reveals that Fisk arranged his own stabbing and that the attacker, Jasper Evans, was released afterwards. That gives Matt a witness who could expose the basis of the transfer. He gets outside and falls asleep in a taxi, only to wake with a different driver. The man abandons the moving vehicle as it carries Matt off a pier and into the water.
Foggy follows Marci's suggestion to run against Tower as a write-in candidate, using the campaign to force public attention onto Fisk. Karen learns Matt is alive and pursues the financial trail to Felix Manning. Dex faces scrutiny over the convoy deaths, but Fisk tells investigators a version that protects him. Afterwards, Fisk offers sympathy for being criticised while saving lives, beginning to draw Dex towards him as Ray is advised to conceal the dangers of his work from his frightened family.
