Faye repeatedly watches her childhood tape, looking for a place she might still recognise. Ed says she knows a landmark in the recording and accompanies her onto Earth, where their search also reaches the orphanage Ed once inhabited. The woman caring for the children tells Ed that her father has been looking for her. Faye's own search leads to an elderly woman who recognises her unchanged face from their childhood. The encounter confirms that the girl on the tape belonged to this place, but Faye cannot recover a familiar relationship simply by being recognised by someone whose life has continued without her.
Back at the Bebop, Faye's memories return more forcefully and send her toward her old home. She finds ruins instead of the house she remembers and draws an outline in the ground where her bed once stood. Meanwhile, an apparent bounty brings Spike and Jet face to face with Ed's father, Appledelhi, who easily frustrates their attempt to capture him. Ed reunites with him, but his obsession with mapping Earth's changing landscape soon carries him away again. She has to decide her own direction rather than relying on that reunion to settle it. Ed leaves a farewell on the ship and departs on foot; Ein chooses to follow her. Spike and Jet eat the eggs prepared for a larger crew, while Faye remains among the remains of her childhood home.
