In Amarillo, Jimmy pays a Sandpiper bus driver to stage a breakdown, giving him a chance to speak with Alma May Urbano and the other residents aboard. He explains the nursing-home case in a way that draws the passengers in, and many sign on as plaintiffs. His new clients impress Davis & Main, but Chuck questions how one mailed response led to so many sign-ups and raises the possibility that Jimmy crossed the rules against direct solicitation.
Kim sees the trouble in Jimmy’s approach and warns that his choices can damage her reputation too. Jimmy argues that his clients are being helped, but he agrees to change how he contacts residents. He then pitches a television commercial for Sandpiper, recruits two film students and shoots an emotional spot at Mrs. Strauss’s home. The finished ad is effective, but Jimmy buys airtime without getting Cliff Main’s approval.
Mike gives Stacey money for her and Kaylee, then takes her report of nighttime gunshots seriously. He secretly watches her street and finds that one sound was only newspapers hitting the ground, yet Stacey remains frightened and points out what she believes is a bullet mark. Mike promises to help them move. After the commercial airs, Davis & Main’s phones ring with new callers, but Cliff is furious that Jimmy went ahead on his own. Mike’s next job lead comes from Nacho.
