Approach and preparation

Flexile Sentry is the No-man’s Wharf boss, and the fight is already inside the ship once you have rung the Wharf bell and boarded it at the dock. Start at the Unseen Path to Heide bonfire. In Scholar, open the platform route near the dock after reaching it; it shortens the run back to the ship and Lucatiel’s sign is on the dock near it. Bring a repaired weapon and choose your equipment before the fog. The Wharf stays dark, so use its fixed lamps or your torch to make the approach readable instead of waiting for a daylight change.

Keep the active weapon in view

The Sentry is two move sets joined back to back. Its sword half strings quick cuts and thrusts; its club half uses heavier sweeps and smashes. Keep the half facing you on screen. If you circle blindly around the body, you can leave the sword side only to arrive in front of the club. Instead, bait a committed sequence, move around the weapon’s last swing, land one or two hits at the side, and turn with the boss so the next weapon set is visible.

The room begins with open footing, so use the middle to reset after a combo. A club smash or a full sword sequence creates an opening, but the punish ends when the Sentry starts turning. Do not stay at its back to force a larger string. It can rotate into the other weapon set and catch you before you have a view of the attack. A shield can take one bad hit, but it is more useful as insurance while you get past the first swing than as a plan for absorbing both sides.

There is no second enemy phase, but the water begins rising two minutes into the fight. Treat that as a timer on your positioning. Once the floor feels restrictive, stop chasing the longest punish and fight near the centre, where you can still see both halves and have room to move away from a sweep. A summon is fine if you want a distraction, but do not let the Sentry turn toward the helper while you stand in front of the other weapon set.

Reward and next step

The boss drops the Flexile Sentry Soul. Keep it if you may trade it to Straid of Olaphis for the Warped Sword, Arced Sword, or Barbed Club. After the kill, enter the adjoining room, climb the ladder, loot the chest if wanted, then use the ship’s compass to sail to the Lost Bastille. That gives access to the Exile Holding Cells route and Ruin Sentinels, although the Pursuer route can also reach the Bastille.
