Dark Souls II Scholar: Dragonrider and Heide
On this page
Heide’s Tower is an early Majula branch built around open platforms and deliberate duels. Pull one Old Knight at a time, let the slow attack finish, then answer with a short string. Running through several together turns the route into a camera problem and makes the narrow approaches much more dangerous.
At Dragonrider, make the arena your first concern. Use the lever mechanisms around the approach before the fog if you want more room to work. In the fight, wait for the long weapon sweep or thrust, dodge toward the safer side, and take one or two hits. The boss is dangerous when you panic-roll toward an edge, not when you stay patient in the centre of a prepared platform.
Defeating Dragonrider changes the route beyond Heide and gives access toward No-man’s Wharf. Return to Majula to spend souls before committing to the next stretch; the branch can ultimately meet Lost Bastille, but it is not the only way there. See Base-Game Progression for where the forest and coastal paths reconnect.
